Life Center Amid Instability and Uncertainty
Since Syria’s government fell In December 2024, Syrians have lived through instability and uncertainty, and in recent weeks, terror. In one weekend, hundreds of civilians were killed as sectarian violence erupted in parts of Syria.
“We are very afraid,” said one mother whose children have been cared for through our Syrian Refugee Life Center (LC). “They killed so many people around us. Please help us. We need food. We need water.”
Amid the chaos, fear, and uncertainty, World Compassion Fellowship’s (WCF) Life Center continues to be a light. As Syrians suffer from injuries and illnesses, our LC staff is helping to meet their physical, emotional and spiritual needs — even as threats have forced our staff to alter our services for security reasons.
When Someone Finally Listened — Faida’s Journey to Healing
Our work here is changing the lives of those we serve. Faida, who lives near our Life Center, lived with a broken arm for four months. After injuring her arm in a fall, she went to a local health facility, but they found nothing. The pain didn’t go away and affected her ability to do simple tasks. Her mental health suffered as well.
One day, she learned about WCF’s LC and met with our orthopedic surgeon. We ordered another X-ray done at a subsidized price and we learned that her arm had been broken and a tendon was inflamed. She felt instant relief knowing that someone had correctly diagnosed the cause of her pain.
The physician gave her a corticosteroid injection and a sling to wear. Ten days later, Faida reported that she had almost no pain. She was thrilled and appreciative.
Although ongoing threats and the recent violence have forced WCF’s Life Center staff to alter how and when they care for Syrians in need, we’re not walking away. As long as the need exists, the LC will continue its work.
As our staff is courageously responding to the medical needs of the Syrian people during a time of upheaval and violence, your support is as critical as ever. Please give today to help WCF’s Life Centers throughout the Middle East continue to be a light in the darkness.
God bless you as you pray and give.
