How We Help

Iraq has faced many decades of war and instability throughout the country. Its neighbors also have faced conflicts and humanitarian crises. WCF provides humanitarian relief such as Food and Hygiene Care Kits, Essential supplies such as toiletries, water projects and emergency medical care for refugee and IDP families as well as impoverished surrounding villages in the region.

During COVID-19, WCF provided more than 20,000 Food-Month Care Packages to impoverished families.

Background

Iraq has faced the lingering effects of multiple civil wars since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in 2003 including the terrible ISIS-led genocide (2014-2017). Millions of people either fled as refugees or were internally displaced, many of whom ended up in Northern Iraq in displacement camps. Many Yazidis fled the ISIS genocide in Sinjar to the north and are afraid to move back home. These camps face severe challenges such as overcrowding, inadequate food, water and healthcare.

Our ministry friends in Iraq have ongoing humanitarian relationships with Refugee/Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camps in the region that house hundreds of thousands of refugees. We also serve many local villages that face similar challenges.

WCF has been serving refugees and IDPs in the region such as establishing a Life Center, sending mobile Medical and Job Skills Teaching Teams, providing Food and Hygiene Care Kits to families during the COVID-19 crisis and providing humanitarian supplies in the Camps and villages.
