Uganda Orphanage/School - Bathroom/Sanitation Project | Uganda

[Please note that we completed our portion of this project. Please see the Related Documents section for our Completion Report.  Thank you for your support!]

The Touch A Life Destiny Orphanage/School is located in Masaka, Uganda. The orphanage is home to almost 300 children. Through this orphanage, the children are able to receive daily food, shelter and education.

Their existing latrine is a small room with several 'squat toilets', which are basically holes in the ground.  For sanitary reasons, we would like to replace these with more modernized toilets and sinks. This project will fund the creation of a bathroom with running water, functioning sinks and 12 toilets and stalls.  This will dramatically cut down on disease and illness caused by the poor sanitary conditions at the existing latrine.

The project will be done in 2 phases.

Phase 1: Total cost of $13,000 includes:

  • Excavation of the septic tank
  • Construction of the soak pit (concrete walls)
  • Hard core, gravel
  • Construction of the bathroom walls, doors and windows
  • Toilet Pans, cisterns and wash basins
  • Tiles
  • Contractor Costs

Phase 2: Total cost of $7,000 includes:

  • Additional walls, doors and windows
  • Additional toilet pans, cisterns and wash basins
  • Tiles
  • Pipe System
  • Contractor Costs
